ON October 30, 2012, several hundred activists of the Delhi state committee of CPI(M) held a protest dharna at Jantar Mantar in protest against the rising cases of sexual violence against women and children throughout the country. The dharna was addressed by CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat, its Delhi state committee’s secretary P M S Grewal and other leaders including Asha Sharma, Nathu Prasad, Jagdish Chand, Sonia Verma (all of whom are members of the party’s state committee), Maimoona Mollah (JMS), Sunand (SFI), Kamala (CITU) and G Mamatha (People’s Democracy). Vijender Sharma, CPI(M) state secretariat member, presided.
