Leaders denounced the unwarranted welcome accorded to the US president by the Indian government. They stated that nothing could be farther from truth than the claims of Prime Minister Modi that the US and India enjoy a special relationship and this visit will further bilateral ties to India’s benefit. In fact, weeks before Trump’s visit, India was removed from the Special and Preferential Status list of the countries that trade with the US.
